My sister sell “plates” on Facebook sometimes. Usually decent food and never anything like this monstrosity but if you spend enough time in buy sale trade groups on Facebook you will see some people selling truly disgusting looking food and people wanting it

Maybe it’s because I ditched most social media years ago, but the idea of selling “homemade” food like this on Facebook is so bizarre to me. Like do people just browse Facebook and see something like this and say “yes I want this” and drive to someone’s house to pay to pick this up? Everything about this is so strange to me.
If you’re home and someone messages you about it do you just drop what you’re doing and make the food and hope the person comes to pick it up?
I guess there’s nothing too unreasonable about all that, but it’s such a bizarre idea to me.

I live on the US-Mexico border and everybody and their cousin sells these, but not on Marketplace. You’ll find them at food trucks or farmers’ markets. They usually add elote and jalapeños.
